SMS text message overview
- Senders transmit messages by using a browser or email free of charge.
- Send to and receive from email addresses. Iridium subscribers are able to receive SMS messages via MSISDN@msg.iridium.com,
where MSISDN is their personal phone number.
- Satellite phone number format is: 8816 xxxx xxxx.
- Messages are free to receive on the satellite phone.
- Text is limited to 160 characters per message.
However, Dept. of Defense users are limited to 120 character message length.
- Messages will be stored until delivered (up to 8 days).
